After the German government approved the ban on
online gambling the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) complained about their decision.
The online gambling ban, which came into effect on 1January, prohibits only online gambling and betting while horse racing is still permitted.
While the German government says they are protecting consumers, Europe’s betting industry says the online
gambling ban breaks EU law and is totally impractical. And our impression is also that Germany is only trying to preserve state-run lotteries.
